Episode 9 - Miami
Good evening, friends.
This is my first late-night recording session. Leo is sleeping in the other room. Layla is resting in her bed (she’s useless if she doesn’t get at least 22 hours of shut eye a day) and Becca is resting her back at eight months pregnant. We are in a very snoozy house, so, I thought I’d sing a little lullaby called Miami.
This is a simple, comforting song I wrote while Becca and I were living through our first bout of long-distance following Leo’s birth. It was a new set of challenges and we both struggled to find our footing as new parents, navigating a big move to a new city, a new job for Becca, and nurturing our relationship in the swirl of changing dynamics.
I wrote this song to remind us both of the beautiful history we have behind us and the faith I have in us always.
I know much of this song is very personal to Becca’s and my story, but I hope the message of reassurance that everything will be all right if we stay true to the ones we love is universal and a balm to anyone who is feeling anxiety in this uncertain moment.
Wishing you all a lovely, snoozy night.
Ian
