Episode 6 - Don’t Blame Me
Hi friends,
I’m very excited for this episode.
Not only did we get a little refresh to the ‘ole Demos With Ian set (thank you Becca, Sam, and Samantha Sara Interiors!), but this song is a barnburner we started writing for The Dark, but didn’t quite fill the need at the time. That said, I loved getting to pull it back under the microscope and build out the theme of Don’t Blame Me.
This fable has been covered many times before: Noah’s Ark, The Little Red Hen, and The Three Little Pigs. These are all stories that speak to the power of preparation, of doing honest, noble work in anticipation of a day of reckoning. I love that. I also added in a theme that is a pet project of mine: the divergence of people who choose to repeat the bullying they suffered and those who choose to reject it. I think it’s a divide that explains a lot of humanity. And I hope there is a day of reckoning for those who pass on the suffering.
Whooo boy! This one’s fun to sing too. Love you all. Hope you enjoy Don’t Blame Me.
Ian
